Botanical Garden

One hundred and eleven hectares above the sea: a Japanese garden flows into a Mexican one, with views that have drawn people for a century.

Batumi's botanical garden was founded in 1912 and has grown into one of the largest in the former Soviet space: nine kilometres of paths along a slope above the sea, plants from every continent and lookouts over the Green Cape cove.

Allow three to four hours for the full loop; an electric cart shuttles between sections if you tire. The upper gate is on the highway side, the lower one by Green Cape beach — enter at the top and walk out to the sea.
