Batumi with kids: a family programme from the dolphinarium to the cable car
Batumi is a surprisingly easy city for a holiday with children: the sea is next to your apartment, the seafront is car-free and there's enough to do in any weather. Here's the programme we recommend to families staying with us.
A sea day without logistics
Batumi's big advantage for parents: the beach starts right at the city, so 'going for a swim' is ten minutes with a bucket, not an expedition with bags. Mornings are calmer and emptier — the best slot for little ones. Pebbles are a plus: clear water, no sand in the eyes; pack swim shoes for the kids.
The dolphinarium and Ardagani lake
Batumi's dolphinarium is one of the city's main kid magnets: shows run daily in season, book tickets online ahead. It sits in 6 May Park with a lake, a mini-zoo and rides — allow half a day for the lot.
In the evening, come back to Ardagani lake for the singing fountains: a free half-hour light-and-music show children never want to leave.
The boulevard: bikes, scooters, ice cream
Seven kilometres of seafront without a single car is a ready-made family route. Rent bikes with child seats or e-scooters, ride from Ali & Nino to the Miracle Park and back. Playgrounds, trampolines and the city's best ice cream near the Piazza line the way.
Cable car and botanical garden — the 'mountain' day
Kids treat the Argo cable car ride as a fairground attraction, and the top offers a panorama, a café and room to run. The botanical garden fills the same day's second half: an electric cart helps when small legs tire, and you can exit straight onto the quiet Green Cape beach.
If it rains
Rain is part of Batumi's character, and it's no sentence: an indoor waterpark, the science museum on the boulevard — and honestly the best fallback plan of all, a hot Adjarian khachapuri in a warm bakery while it pours outside.
For families we usually suggest our two-bedroom apartments in Alliance Palace — indoor pool, spa and a kids' zone right in the building, so a rainy day stops being a problem.
